India, June 17 -- A specialist neurosurgeon and a clerk from the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital have been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The duo was taken into custody over allegations of selling medicines at inflated prices via a third party, according to Bribery Commission officials. Investigations have revealed that both individuals were complicit in exploiting patients by manipulating the pricing of essential medications.

Further inquiries into the full extent of the scheme are currently underway.
