Sri Lanka, July 2 -- The Cabinet has approved a new scholarship initiative aimed at supporting top-performing students who have excelled in the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination to pursue their first degree at globally recognized universities.

As part of the 2025 budget proposal, Rs. 200 million has been allocated to implement this program, aligned with the government's policy vision of cultivating a "Civilized Citizen - Advanced Human Resource." The scholarships will fund undergraduate studies lasting up to four years at foreign universities ranked within the top 500 internationally, with instruction in English.
