Srilanka, June 11 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali today (June 11) ordered the further remand of former Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upal Upuldeniya until June 25, in connection with the alleged unlawful release of inmates by misusing the Presidential amnesty.

Senior Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, representing the Attorney General's Department, informed the court that three prisoners were released illegally in addition to the 36 inmates who were lawfully eligible for release from Anuradhapura Prison.
