Sri Lanka, March 11 -- Three people were killed in an accident involving a three-wheeler carrying passengers returning from the annual Lenten festival at the St. Anne's Shrine, Thalawila, after it collided with two other vehicles.

According to Madampe Police, nine people, including five children, were travelling in the three-wheeler at the time of the accident, which is believed to have been caused by the driver falling asleep.

The accident occurred last Sunday (9) around 7.00 p.m., nearly 100 metres from the Galhittiyawa junction on the Colombo-Chilaw main road in Madampe.
