Srilanka, March 26 -- The Ministry Health has announced a three-day special field programme to curb the spread of dengue, as intermittent rainfall raises concerns about an increase in cases.

The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) is spearheading the initiative, scheduled for March 27, 28 and 29, targeting 37 high-risk Public Health Inspector (PHI) divisions across several districts, including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Matara, Matale, Batticaloa, Ratnapura and Trincomalee.

According to the data, 10,886 dengue cases have been reported countrywide since January 1, 2025. This figure represents a 43.4 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
