Sri Lanka, March 22 -- Religious Advisor of Qing Liang Vihara in Singapore and Dhamma Voice International Buddhist Centre Chief Incumbent Ven. Yatamalagala Sumanasara Thera hailed the efforts of President Maithripala Sirisena for taking steps to convince the UNESCO to declare Theravada Thripitaka - the Buddhist Sacred Writings, a World Heritage.

Appreciating the President's naming of those who fought for freedom at Wellassa in 1818 as National Heroes, the Thera said he admires the President's efforts to give Buddhism its due place in the world stage by declaring Theravada Thripitaka, a World Heritage in January at a ceremony in Aluvihara Temple in Matale.
