Sri Lanka, Sept. 16 -- An era in which the Opposition is forcibly silenced in Parliament has dawned, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said.

"Currently, the opportunity to present problems of the people in Parliament has been minimised and the Government has reached a point where the microphones are off when public issues are raised," he said. Premadasa said that as the Opposition Leader, he and other Opposition members are not standing up to express their personal matters but to present issues of the public. So it is unfortunate that the expression of opinions is obstructed.

He said that the Government should listen to the problems of the people presented by the Opposition and provide practical answers. However, today is not an era of...
