Sri Lanka, Dec. 24 -- The 2026 Budget of the Thalawa Pradeshiya Sabha, led by the NPP, was passed yesterday.
However, 13 Opposition members walked out of the chamber, saying that a procedural issue had arisen. Therefore, proceedings of the chamber could not be conducted as it is in violation of the rules.
The Chairman of the Thalawa Pradeshiya Sabha, Karunadasa Dissanayake commenced proceedings of the Sabha yesterday morning to present the Budget for the year 2026, but all the Opposition members walked out of the chamber and submitted a written complaint to the Local Government Commissioner, stating that the proceedings of the chamber could not be conducted, as the session was being held in violation of the rules.
