Srilanka, March 26 -- The Ministry of Environment and the Department of Forest Conservation have temporarily halted the transfer of lands within the Wandama-Demaliya Reserve, located across the Buttala and Wellawaya Divisional Secretariats of the Monaragala District.

This decision follows concerns regarding land allocations to individuals or institutions in the area.

In response to potential grievances, the Director General of the Department of Forest Conservation has been instructed to confirm the legal status of these lands.

This action aims to protect the region's natural forest resources and ensure a sustainable ecosystem for future generations.
