Sri Lanka, April 29 -- The Foreign Affairs Ministry has directed the Sri Lankan Embassy in Sweden to investigate the alleged situation of Sri Lankans who have gone to work in Lithuania and find themselves in dire conditions and to submit a report immediately.

Some persons have alleged that they have been employed in pig pens, instead of employed as heavy vehicle drivers, as promised.

A senior spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Ministry that, due to the absence of a Sri Lankan Embassy in Lithuania, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Sweden, which is concurrently accredited to Lithuania, has been tasked with looking into this matter and reporting back.
