Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- Mahabage Police arrested a Swazi national woman for engaging in a cannabis trafficking operation.
The 30-year-old woman was arrested after attempting to smuggle packets of cannabis into the detention centre for illegal immigrants in the Mahabage Police division, under the guise of delivering food to the Nigerian nationals detained there.
Police investigations revealed the woman arrived in Sri Lanka on a student visa in 2018. She earned a Management degree from Eastern University in Oluvil in 2024.
After graduating, she rented a house for Rs. 35,000 per month in Colombo Road, Katunayake, where she lived and ran her drug operation without any legitimate employment.
