Srilanka, June 25 -- Suspended Commissioner General of Prisons, Thushara Upuldeniya, who is currently in remand custody, has been ordered to be further remanded until July 9.

The order was issued today (June 25) by the Colombo Magistrate's Court, during proceedings related to the alleged illegal release of a prisoner from the Anuradhapura Prison.

Upuldeniya remains under investigation over serious misconduct linked to the unauthorized release and is currently facing legal proceedings while under suspension from his official post.
