Sri Lanka, May 3 -- A suspect was arrested yesterday evening (May 2) in connection with the fatal shooting of Dan Priyasad, a local government election candidate representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

According to police, the 52-year-old suspect is believed to be the gunman responsible for Priyasad's murder, which occurred on April 22. He was taken into custody in the Cinnamon Gardens area of Colombo.

Authorities also revealed that the suspect is allegedly linked to the murder of Priyasad's brother, further deepening the investigation.
