Sri Lanka, Dec. 10 -- The Rambukkana Police arrested a 31-year-old local resident yesterday (09) in connection with the theft of a cable installed at a telephone transmission tower in the Talhenkanda area, Rambukkana Police Division. Authorities also recovered over 13 kilograms of copper wire from the suspect.

Police stated that such thefts have been increasingly observed in areas affected by the recent disaster, including locations where telephone towers are being rebuilt. These crimes pose a serious obstacle to the prompt restoration of telephone and internet services, they added.
