Srilanka, Feb. 14 -- The Supreme Court has ruled that the Special Provisions for Local Government Elections Bill, in its entirety or any of its provisions, is not inconsistent with the Constitution. As a result, the bill can be passed by a simple majority vote in Parliament.

Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne presented the Supreme Court's decision to Parliament during today's session.
