Srilanka, Feb. 17 -- Former TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran has been appointed as the General Secretary of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK). This decision was made during the party's central committee meeting held yesterday (16) in Kaluwanchikudy, Batticaloa.

Dr. P. Sathyalingam, the outgoing General Secretary, announced his inability to continue in the position due to health reasons. Following his announcement, the central committee promptly decided to appoint Sumanthiran, who previously served as the Senior Deputy Secretary of the party, as the new General Secretary.
