Sri Lanka, Jan. 7 -- Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Minister, Dr. Upali Pannilage, said in Parliament yesterday that steps are being taken to introduce a pension scheme for all engaged in informal employment to live a happy retirement.

The Government has announced plans and is working on a National Social Protection Strategy that includes pension reforms for the informal sector as well.

He made this statement while participating in the debate on the regulations under the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act, and regulations under the Fishermen's Pension and Social Security Benefit Scheme Act, resolution under the Public Safety Ordinance and proposal to appoint a parliamentary select committee to investigate ...
