Sri Lanka, Nov. 10 -- A special discussion was held recently to address the abnormal fluctuations in the prices of eggs, chicken, and pork, with the aim of ensuring fair returns for producers while offering affordable prices to consumers.
The meeting took place between the All Ceylon Animal Production and Common Transporters Farmers' Organization and the Director General of the Department of Animal Production and Health, Dr. K. K. Sarath.
The farmers' organization, based in Dadugama, Ja-Ela, plays a key role in transporting pigs, chickens, and eggs from livestock farms across the island to markets. During the discussion, participants highlighted the transportation difficulties and production challenges faced by farmers.
