India, Dec. 1 -- Meteorology Department Director General Athula Karunanayake said although the heavy rainfall has subsided, water from areas around hydroelectric power plants in the central highlands is gradually moving downstream.
Therefore, the public is urged to act with constant vigilance regarding statements issued by the Department of Irrigation concerning flood situations, Director General of the Department of Meteorology Athula Karunanayake has advised.
At present, the ground across the country is saturated and there is a possibility of localised flooding in some areas.
