Sri Lanka, Sept. 30 -- The Colombo Magistrate's Court has granted bail to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sathish Gamagedara, who is currently attached to the Cultural Division of the Police Field Force Headquarters.

During his tenure as SSP in charge of the Galle and Embilipitiya Police Divisions, he allegedly opened three private bank accounts under another person's name and received nearly 1.5 million rupees in bribes. The funds were reportedly collected from organized criminals, individuals seeking police services, and other offenders, and deposited into those accounts.
