Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- Officials from the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) have assured the Sri Pada Trustees that the Mahagiridamba area on the Sri Pada Hatton road is now safe for pilgrims, following recent renovation works.
The announcement came after NBRO officials visited the Sri Pada Maluwa yesterday (08) and confirmed that there is no longer a risk of landslides at the site, said Venerable Dorapane Sumanajothi Thero. Pilgrims can now safely access Sri Pada via this route.
Earlier, a large mound of earth collapsed in the Mahagiridamba area due to Cyclone Ditwah, prompting inspections by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO), which had identified landslide risks.
