Sri Lanka, April 24 -- The Department of Census and Statistics has released the latest edition of the official poverty line chart for February 2025. According to the data, the national poverty line-representing the minimum monthly income required for an individual to meet basic needs-is recorded at Rs. 16,318.
Based on this figure, the minimum monthly income required for a family of four to meet essential living expenses amounts to Rs. 65,272.
The official poverty line is calculated monthly and varies by district. For February, Colombo District recorded the highest district-level poverty line at Rs. 17,599, while the Monaragala District reported the lowest, at Rs. 15,603.
