Sri Lanka, April 12 -- Welikada Prison is set to prepare the largest milk rice dish in Sri Lanka to mark the Sinhala and Tamil New Year on April 14.
The preparation will begin in the early hours of the 14th, with over 40 inmates working together in the prison kitchen. Around 400 kilograms of rice and 200 kilograms of grated coconut-much of it harvested from the prison's own farmland-will be used. In addition to the milk rice, the inmates will also prepare a flavorful salt and pepper sambol to accompany the dish.
