Srilanka, April 15 -- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reports that tourism earnings for the first quarter of 2025 have reached US$ 1,122.3 million, marking a 9.4% increase compared to US$ 1,025.9 million in the same period last year.

In March 2025 alone, the country earned US$ 354 million from tourism, helping total earnings surpass the US$ 1 billion milestone in the first three months.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, 722,276 foreign tourists visited the country in Q1 2025. This translates to an average earning of US$ 1,553.83 per tourist.

By comparison, Q1 2024 saw 635,784 arrivals, generating US$ 1,025.9 million in earnings-an average of US$ 1,613.59 per tourist.
