Srilanka, March 21 -- Today marks the 161st Police Heroes' Day of the Sri Lanka Police.

To honor the brave officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, 30 family members of fallen police officers and 20 family members of those who were severely disabled while serving, joined Acting Inspector General of Police Mr. Priyantha Weerasuriya for a floral tribute at the Police War Heroes' Memorial at the Police Field Force Headquarters.

In recognition of their sacrifice, the Acting IGP also presented cash gift vouchers to the families as a gesture of respect.

On this day, the nation remembers the selfless sacrifices of police officers who risked and gave their lives to protect the freedom and safety we enjoy today.
