Sri Lanka, July 22 -- The Sri Lanka Navy, during an operation conducted in Sri Lankan waters north of Mannar on the night of July 21, detained an Indian fishing vessel along with four Indian fishermen involved in illegal fishing activities.

The North Central Naval Command observed several Indian fishing vessels entering Sri Lankan waters and carrying out unauthorized fishing.

In response, coastal patrol vessels were deployed to remove the intruding vessels.

The Navy lawfully boarded and inspected one of the vessels engaged in illegal fishing, detaining the four fishermen and seizing the vessel for violating border laws.
