Srilanka, April 21 -- Today (21) marks the sixth anniversary of the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka, which claimed the lives of over 270 people and injured more than 500 others.
The coordinated suicide bombings, carried out by an Islamic extremist group, targeted three Christian churches and three luxury hotels in Colombo around 8:45 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. Additional explosions were later reported at a hotel in Dehiwala and a house in Dematagoda.
To commemorate the victims, a series of memorial events are being held across the country today, with a special focus on Christian churches.
