Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- Sri Lanka's Minister of Environment, Hon. Dr. Dammika Patabendi, is participating in the second part of the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5.2) on plastic pollution, held in Geneva, Switzerland from August 5-14, 2025.
During the ministerial-level discussions from August 12-14, Dr. Patabendi addressed the challenges of tackling plastic pollution at a roundtable hosted by the United Nations. He highlighted Sri Lanka's efforts, including the National Plastic Waste Management Action Plan 2021-2030, and ongoing awareness programs to encourage community participation and behavioral change.
