Sri Lanka, Feb. 12 -- The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington DC welcomed the Walk for Peace on 10 February 2026, an initiative led by a group of Buddhist monks travelling across the United States to promote global peace.Sri Lanka travel guide

As part of the programme, the Embassy joined a Danna organised by the Sri Lankan community in the DMV area at the National United Methodist Church, attended by more than 200 Buddhist monks.

Sri Lanka's Ambassador to the United States, Mahinda Samarasinghe, also attended an interfaith ceremony at the Washington National Cathedral at the invitation of District of Columbia Secretary Kimberly A.
