Srilanka, Feb. 20 -- Sri Lanka Customs has uncovered an organized scam involving fraudsters impersonating the Director General of Customs to extort money through WhatsApp messages. The scam, which uses the name "DGC Mr. Nonis," involves requesting payments under various pretexts and providing fraudulent bank account details.

Customs Media Spokesperson and Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda has urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to these fraudulent activities. He advised anyone who receives such messages to immediately report the incident to the nearest police station.

This warning comes as part of efforts to protect citizens from increasingly sophisticated online scams.
