Sri Lanka, April 12 -- In a move to strengthen maritime safety and ensure swift emergency response, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard has launched a 24-hour emergency hotline-106. This number connects directly to the Coast Guard Operations Centre and is available to report any maritime emergency.
The introduction of the hotline is aimed at reducing response times and improving coordination during emergencies at sea. By offering mariners, fishermen, and coastal communities a direct line of communication, the Coast Guard hopes to boost operational readiness and support national efforts in maritime safety and environmental protection.
