Srilanka, May 9 -- In a gesture of environmental collaboration, Sri Lanka has gifted 1,000 non-endemic plants to the Maldives to support an ongoing forestry project in the island nation.
A symbolic handover ceremony took place yesterday (May 8) at the Ministry of Environment in Colombo. Sri Lanka's Minister of Environment, Dr. Dammika Patabendi, and Deputy Minister Anton Jayakody presented a selection of the plants to Mr. Masood Imad, High Commissioner of the Maldives to Sri Lanka.
Senior officials, including the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, were also present at the event, which highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to regional environmental sustainability.
