Sri Lanka, April 12 -- The Prisons Department has announced a special arrangement allowing open visits for inmates in celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year on April 13 and 14.
During these two days, prisoners will be permitted to meet with their visitors in person, and relatives will be allowed to bring a parcel of food, a parcel of sweets, and a package of hygiene items for each inmate.
Prisons Commissioner and Media Spokesperson, Gamini B. Dissanayake, stated that these visits will take place at all prison institutions across the country, while strictly adhering to health and safety guidelines.
