Srilanka, May 9 -- A tragic Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) helicopter crash occurred this morning (May 9) in the Maduru Oya reservoir, resulting in the deaths of six military personnel.
According to SLAF Media Spokesperson Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, a Bell 212 helicopter with a crew of 12 was on a routine mission when it went down in the lagoon area of Maduru Oya. The crash reportedly took place during a scheduled training exercise.
Among the deceased are two Air Force personnel and four members of the Sri Lanka Army Special Forces. All individuals on board, including pilots and flight crew, were initially rushed to the Aranaganwila Hospital for emergency treatment.
