Srilanka, June 11 -- Train services between Kandy and Peradeniya have been temporarily suspended following the appearance of a sinkhole near the Kandy Court Complex, according to the Railway Department.

To assist affected commuters, special buses have been deployed between the two stations.

A team from the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has been dispatched to inspect the site of the collapse and assess the structural integrity of the area.

Railway General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara stated that efforts are underway to restore train operations as quickly as possible.
