Sri Lanka, April 25 -- Police have informed the public that no new devotees will be admitted to the Sri Dalada Vandana pilgrimage due to the overwhelming number of participants.

Following a significant increase in pilgrims, the Dalada Pandana Committee announced yesterday that no further entries will be accepted. However, those already in the queue-estimated at around 400,000 people- will still be allowed to complete the pilgrimage.

According to police estimates, the existing queue is expected to complete the Sri Dalada Vandana by the afternoon of April 27.

In light of this, police are urging the public not to travel to Kandy for the pilgrimage. They also stated that if the situation permits, a public update will be issued on April 26 ...
