Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- The Speaker of Parliament, Dr.Jagath Wickramaratne, today (09) announced a ruling that the motion submitted on 21 November 2025 to appoint a Select Committee of Parliament to examine the powers of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is out of order.
The motion, submitted by 31 Members of Parliament including Sajith Premadasa, R. M. Ranjith Madduma Bandara,. Dayasiri Jayasekara, and others, sought a parliamentary inquiry into the JSC's exercise of powers over the appointment, promotion, transfer, dismissal, and disciplinary control of judicial officers.
