Srilanka, June 20 -- The High Commissioner of South Africa to Sri Lanka, H.E. Sandile Edwin Schalk, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka, Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, recently (18) at the Parliament premises. The Secretary General of Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, was also present at the meeting.

During the discussion, the Hon. Speaker stated that Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations with South Africa in 1994 and emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of trade, tourism, as well as people-to-people ties.
