Soldier held for Jaffna Uni student's murder
Sri Lanka, Jan. 23 -- A soldier was arrested in Jaffna yesterday for murdering a Jaffna University medical student who was alleged to have been in a relationship with.
According to sources, the arrest was made yesterday afternoon when a soldier tried to flee the scene of the incident.
The soldier and the girl had met at the Pannai beach and later he had killed her.
Police found a mobile phone,a notebook and handbag near the scene of the crime. The soldier was attached to the Kilinochchi army base. The deceased is a resident from Beruwala, and was a medical student, studying at the Jaffna University.The police are further investigating the crime.
