Srilanka, July 16 -- The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has issued a comprehensive update on the compensation and support measures provided to victims of the Geradi Ella bus accident, which occurred on May 11, 2025, resulting in 23 fatalities and 61 injuries.
In an official statement, SLTB Chairman Jeewaka Prasanna Purasinghe outlined the steps taken by the Board, including funeral assistance for the deceased and medical support for the injured.
Each of the 23 families of the deceased received Rs. 1 million from the President's Secretariat, while the SLTB additionally provided Rs. 25,000 to 20 families and Rs. 10,000 each to 46 injured passengers. The Board noted that legal constraints are delaying compensation for the remaining inju...
