Sri Lanka, Oct. 3 -- Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe said yesterday that it will be mandatory to have an SLS certificate when manufacturing plastic equipment such as feeding bottles and lunch boxes used by infants and schoolchildren from April 1, 2026.
It will be mandatory for manufacturers to obtain the Sri Lanka Standards (SLS) before releasing these plastic products to the market, the Minister said.
Participating in a press conference held at his Ministry, the Minister said that the sale of products that do not meet the prescribed standards will be completely prohibited from April 1, 2026.
