Srilanka, Feb. 13 -- Vice Minister for the Office of the Thai Prime Minister Gen. (Rtd.) Nipat Thonglek commended the ongoing collaboration between the chambers of commerce of both nations, emphasising the importance of fostering closer trade and investment relations. The discussions also covered the Thailand-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the strengthening of economic ties.

The Vice Minister made the above remarks when he paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday.

Vice Minister briefed the Prime Minister on his discussions with senior Government officials, particularly with the IGP, regarding the MoU on defense exchanges between the two countries.
