Sri Lanka, Nov. 3 -- The Sri Lanka Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) in the Western seas on Friday (October 31), in a significant step to deepen bilateral Naval cooperation.
The exercise followed the conclusion of a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka by JMSDF Akebono. After departing the country, the Japanese vessel integrated with SLNS Sayura for the scheduled drills.
The PASSEX featured exercises in communication, Naval air operations and tactical manoeuvering, concluding with the traditional cheer ship salute.
