Srilanka, May 22 -- Six Bangladeshi nationals, including a 35-year-old woman, were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department's (CID) Katunayake Airport Unit on Tuesday night (21), while attempting to travel to France using forged visas.
The suspects, aged between 33 and 43, had arrived in Sri Lanka on tourist visas and were staying at a lodge near Katunayake Airport. Authorities suspect they were part of a broader network facilitating illegal migration to European countries.Sri Lankan tourism
This incident is part of a growing trend of Bangladeshi nationals using Sri Lanka as a transit point in attempts to enter Europe illegally. The Sri Lankan police have made several similar arrests in recent weeks.
