Sri Lanka, Sept. 19 -- Former Secretary of Defence Hemasiri Fernando told the Presidential Commission of Investigation (PCoI) into the Easter Sunday attacks yesterday that the country's State Intelligence Service (SIS) became a political intelligence service.

He said that the period after the Constitutional crisis was a time of political turmoil.

He said the State Intelligence Service was conducting political spying.

He also said he had not received an intelligence report on the possibility of a terrorist attack from the day he took over as Defence Secretary until April 8, and called on the Commission to investigate through a Committee of intelligence analysts if it could not accept what he was saying.
