Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- A Sub-Inspector has been arrested on charges of having close ties with the organised crime gang and drug syndicate leader "Kehelbaddara Padme".

Police Media Spokesman ASP F.U.Wootler said that the 39-year-old suspect, an SI attached to the Gampaha Division Crimes Investigation Unit has been arrested by a special Police team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers on Wednesday night on charges of his close links with Kehelbaddara Padme.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the SI is suspected to have maintained a close relationship with Kehelbaddara Padme who was arrested along with four other organised criminals in Indonesia currently being detained and interrogated.
