Srilanka, May 6 -- A man was shot in the leg by Seeduwa Police officers during an altercation in the 18th Post area of Katunayake this morning, according to the Police Media Division.
The incident occurred around 10:15 AM after residents reported that the individual was violently attacking a house and behaving in a disorderly manner. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect continued to act aggressively and reportedly assaulted the police.
In an attempt to subdue him, officers opened fire, injuring the man in the leg. One police officer was also injured during the confrontation.
The injured suspect was admitted to Seeduwa Hospital for treatment. Seeduwa Police have launched a further investigation into the incident.
