Sri Lanka, Jan. 12 -- The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology has issued an amber-level advisory for severe lightning for Western, North-western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts, valid from 12.00 noon to 11.00 p.m. today (12 ).
According to the Meteorology Department, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely in these areas, with the possibility of localized strong winds during the storms.
The public is urged to take adequate precautions to minimize risks and damages caused by lightning.
