Sri Lanka, Nov. 27 -- All vehicular traffic on the Polonnaruwa-Batticaloa main road has been suspended from today (27) until further notice.

Police stated that the temporary closure is due to flooding in the Manampitiya Gallella area caused by the ongoing severe weather. Authorities have advised the public to use trains for necessary travel.

Heavy rainfall has also caused flooding on several roads in the North Central Province, prompting traffic restrictions. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes.

Affected roads include:

Polonnaruwa-Somawathi Road (Sungawila area) Oyamaduwa-Settikulam Road (completely closed) Anuradhapura-Wariyapola Road (near Deduru Oya Bridge)
