Sri Lanka, March 24 -- Air Force Commander Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, has appointed a seven member committee to investigate the recent Air Force aircraft crash in the Wariyapola area of Kurunegala.

The wreckage of the aircraft has been brought to the Katunayake Air Force Base for further investigation.

The aircraft crashed into a coconut field in Wariyapola, Kurunegala during a training exercise and an on-site investigation has now been completed, Air Force Media Spokesperson Group Captain Eranda Geeganage said.

However, he said that investigations have already begun into the cause of the crash of the aircraft in question and that the chief training instructor of the aircraft is an experienced pilot.
